So Brad sent me a link to this incredible shirt he found on ebay.  He knows Aimee is a big fan of Saved by the Bell as they have had discussions about their favorite episodes (Lame!).  Anyways, this goes out to everyone because there is a little Bayside Tiger in all of us but it especially goes out to Aimee who always dreamed of hangin in the halls of Bayside, pulling a prank with Zack Morris, giving Screech a weddgy and cuddling with AC Slater after winning state in wrestling.  (remember when a girl joined the wrestling team and put AC in a major bind because he didn’t want to wrestle a girl but he had no choice or he couldn’t wrestle for the championship, man that sucked!)

Show ‘em some love.

It’s always nice to be reunited with something or someone you love. I think it reminds you why you love them in the first place. After a week away, my family is back and it has reminded me why I love them so much. It is nice to have a full house again, although 3 people doesn’t typically fill a house or a small apartment in our case, but you know what I mean. St. George was a nice quick trip but the best part was just being back with Aimee and Jackson. This is just a little shot of our family.

If there’s one thing that makes me sad it’s seeing a bike sit and not be put to good use. This has unfortunately been the case for my mountain bike, I’ve been spending all my time lately dodging cars and riding the road, so for the first time in who knows how many months I got out my mountain bike and headed up to a new trail up in Corner Canyon called Clark’s Trail and daaang was it a killer ride. Nothing beats a moutain ride in the fall. Check out the colors.

As you can see this a classic single track trail with some amazing scenery. The push up to the top is pretty gradual and doesn’t kill you and has some great look out areas like this one.

The way down is fast and has perfect banked turns but some sketchy corners that you have to watch out for uphill riders/hikers, otherwise you’ll end up down in the valley a bit quicker than you would like or beat up by a hiker who is probably stronger than you are.

A lot of people think that going up is the hard part and that going down is this easy part but man do you need some serious bike handling skills to decend well, bike skills that I realized on the way down that I’ve lost. I was reminded of a sign I once saw that said “skidding is poor form” and I’m not refering to the skidding that goes on in your underwear, although that is pretty poor form as well, I’m talking locking up your breaks and bringing down half the mountain with you. Anyways, I think I’ll head back up the moutain later this week and see if I can’t fix my skidding problems , both of them. I took this picture to pay tribute to my trusty, out of date trek once I reached the top and because I rode this trail a little muddy, yeah I’m bad, the man isn’t bringing me down!

So whether it’s a bike you’ve left hanging in your garage collecting dust or your family that you ditched in Vegas collecting vacation debt, get them out and show em’ some love and I’m sure they will show you some love right back. mmmmm bike love.

It’s Disc Golf!!

tyler| October 9, 2007 10:06 pm

During my alone time boredom I downloaded some pics from a camera we only use occasionally and I found these pictures from disc golf (link is for those who have no idea what I’m talking about) a couple of weeks ago. We went up and played on the course at Solitude ski resort with Mark and Molly and dang was it a tough course. There was plenty of cursing from all four of us, Aimee and Molly can make a guy blush when their competitive sides come out. We were lucky because this was the last good Saturday we had before it started snowing in the mountains. Mark kicked our trash and has a hella good throw as you can see from these extreme pics.

The mountain course made for some incredible surroundings but were less than ideal for a rouge throw. Despite spending some quality time in the trees, we were lucky and came home with all the discs.

Seeing these pictures also reminded me of an awesome story that Molly told us. She told a guy at her work that she was going to play frisbee golf over the weekend and he is apparently a hard core disc golfer. He got mad at Molly and said very firmly and smugly, “It’s disc golf! Frisbee is only a brand!” So the moral of the story, get out and play frisbee golf, it’s fun!

P.S. Making dinner for one and eating dinner alone while watching “The Biggest Looser” sucks, and kinda makes you feel fat.

I’m breaking the “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” rule

tyler| October 8, 2007 11:03 pm

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a big fan of Las Vegas. It’s hot, crowded, everyplace you go is filled with smoke and it seams like there’s nothing to do besides gamble and hit the strip clubs (I have no money to gamble with and Aimee gets bored at the strip clubs). I just got back from Vegas earlier today and this trip improved my opinion of sin city. We went to visit Aimee’s sister Kristin and her family and to see some friends who have moved there. The weather was cooler this time around and made it possible to get out and see what there is to do around Vegas. We headed out to Red Rock Canyon and did some short hikes out there. Red Rock was actually a pretty cool area, lots of people cycling the canyon, lots of places to climb and boulder. I think I’de like to go back there when we have more time. Jackson held his own on the hike as usual and wasn’t about to be carried.hikin.jpg

He and Cooper were usually up front leading the way and waiting for the rest of the crew.

We hiked to a placed called the “Gold Fish Pond” in a hiking book that we were following and when we got there it was a man made 6 by 6 foot cemented square trough that was about a foot deep and full of moss and had a sign next to it that said do not put gold fish in this “pond”. We were a little dissapointed but had a good laugh about the pathetic description in the book but the kids thought it was cool and had a chance to sit in the shade and toture some bugs.

It was a good time had by all and it was nice to be outside instead of inside a dark cancer filed casino. Aimee and Jackson stayed in Vegas with her sister and I’m home flying solo for the rest of the week and then I’ll meet them in St. George next weekend for another weekend getaway. Expect a few blogs this week because I’m gonna be bored and I’m missin’ Aim and J.aim-n-j.jpg

Growin’ Up

tyler| October 3, 2007 10:58 pm

cutie.jpg As you can see Jackson is getting big and as handsome as ever. Over the last few weeks it seems as though he has become so much more like a little boy and less like our little baby. I think it all began when we turned his crib into a toddler bed.bed.jpg He thought that getting his own pillow and a new blanket was pretty awesome. Thank goodness for the Ikea where we can score all this stuff for cheap. Jackson has become more interested in his big boy toys like his train, which he plays with everyday and even if he’s not actively playing with it, it has to be set up. train.jpg But I guess with all the growing up he has done lately also comes the rewards like not changing some heat filled stink bomb diapers. As we all know big kid poops are bad news. Anyways Jackson has been doing really well with poopin in the potty so he got to go get himself a present and he wanted a backpack. It was a well deserved present from my standpoint and as you can see he was ready with a backpack full of toys for church this last Sunday. backpack.jpg It makes us sad to see our baby boy getting so big but is also makes us happy to see him learning and playing and having fun as all little kids should. It also gives me solace knowing that Jackson will be ready come March 29th to become a big brother and that chances are I wont be changing 2 diapers at once. Now lets hope I’ll do enough growing up to become a father of 2!
